Business Coaching
The last thing you want is someone to take up your time while you teach them about your business. But this is what many have experienced with so-called 'business coaches'. So how is Edensilk different?
We recognize that knowing what to do is the easy part. Being able to do it yourself is where real learning takes place. But knowing how to help others to do what you do, or what they want to do … now that is another set of skills again.
A business coach needs all of the above; knowledge, experience, and ability to enable others. If any one of these three things is lacking, then you get the experience we referred to earlier.
A business coach is to you and your team, what a sports coach is to an athlete or a football team. They can identify problems and show you how to fix them. They suggest improvements and show you how to implement them. They can help you analyse your own game to continuously improve it. They understand group dynamics and how to get the best results out of a team, not just out of individuals. A coach is as comfortable with ideas as they are with practical implementation. While the coach may not join the field of play, they have proven their abilities before, and they are keenly interested in your success.
Some business skills and coaching skills are generic, so a person who has succeeded in a manufacturing business might be able to help someone else to succeed in their retail business. Indeed, sometimes there are advantages in being coached by someone whose perspective is un-conditioned by your industry.
However, after a point, this can be like getting tennis lessons from a golf pro. Or yacht racing lessons from a football coach. Eventually you will need the kind of in-depth experience and advice that can only be supplied by someone who knows your game.
Edensilk can assign different coaches from a variety of backgrounds to suit your varying needs over time. Every one of our Business Coaches possess demonstrable knowledge, experience and enabling skills. Importantly, they have run their own business at some stage. And they have a passion for helping others to really succeed in doing the same.
Our Business Coaches can deploy a variety of models and materials to assist you and your team. We do not believe there is one perfect model, or that 'one size can be made to fit all'.
Every high performance team has a coach, and if that person is the business owner, chances are they are not devoting enough time to that important part of their role.
As a business owner, or senior manager, you owe it to yourself and your team to be coached yourself, and to outsource some of your team coaching role to an expert with proven methods.
Those who play to win just don't have time for trial and error.
